These past few months have been almost ... how do I say it... carefree!?
I love designing templates but I have to admit it is FRUSTRATING. The past year has been full of ups and downs for me. About the time I felt like I was getting ahead something else would happen and boom I would be back down on my knees begging for things to be like they were the first two years I was in business. I understand how business works, this isn't my first rodeo but the struggles at some point begin to outweigh the positives.
I've taken the past couple months off from template work and focused solely on 3 things.
1. Learning - I've taken SO many fantastic classes since April. I am feeling much more confident in my skills in Illustrator and it is becoming my main stay for design. I still have plenty to learn, something I will continue doing this fall.
2. Contract Work - I have a few companies I work with on a consistent basis that share the same vision as me and make me fill like my work has value.
3. What I Love - I've been able to create things I love for me and my heart is once again singing!
Plans For the Future
The point of being an entrepreneur and running a small business is doing what you love. As hard as this is to say I have to be honest with myself. The day to day grind and struggles of owning a template business aren't bringing me joy anymore.
I am not saying I will stop designing templates I am just saying at this moment in time I am going to continue doing what feels good. For the time being any templates I make will be sent to my boutique at Millers Design Market.
I want to make the blog here at
PCB a reflection of me. You can expect more honest, straight from the
heart posts about my life. There WILL be struggles along the way but
many triumphs too and I want to share them with you.
am going to do the things I love. Color posts. Pattern posts. Free
downloads. Font shares. Whatever is feeling right for me on any given day and I hope
you will come along with me on this journey.
Thank you to all the wonderful photographers and friends I've made on this journey! I can't wait to see what is next and share it with you (and hopefully many more new friends too)!
